Jakarta, Legal Literacy - Anies-Muhaimin, the presidential and vice-presidential candidate pair number 1, have filed a lawsuit against the election results to the Constitutional Court. For them, the election process is as important as the final result. They believe that there were many violations in the 2024 election process involving the coalition of change they lead.
The plenary meeting that determined the results of the 2024 Election votes by the General Election Commission (KPU) at the KPU Office, Jakarta, Wednesday (20/3/2024) evening, confirmed Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka as the presidential and vice-presidential candidate pair with the most votes. Anies-Muhaimin came in second, while the Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD pair came in last.
"Today (yesterday) the KPU has issued an official announcement, the results of which in the KPU version we have heard together. However, in an election, the process is no less important than the final result," said Anies in response to the results of the KPU plenary meeting, through a written statement, Wednesday.
Anies Highlights a Transparent, Fair, and Intervention-Free Election Process

He highlighted the importance of a transparent, fair, and intervention-free election process to ensure that every eligible vote is counted and valued. The process must also be well maintained to guarantee legitimacy, trust, and inclusiveness in the results. Without a credible process, there is a risk of doubt about the legitimacy of the elected candidate or the decisions they make. Therefore, maintaining the integrity of the election process is crucial to maintaining the sustainability of democracy and fulfilling the aspirations of society as a whole.
"Ladies and gentlemen, a leader born from a process tainted with fraud and irregularities will produce a regime that gives rise to policies full of injustice, and we don't want this to happen," he said firmly.
However, he emphasized that in the context of a modern democratic country, efforts to convey abnormalities and irregularities should not be carried out through public agitation.
"The step we are taking is not to incite anger and agitation among the public, but we are collecting all the necessary evidence to be submitted to the judges. We hope that the country will continue to move forward in building its political maturity, not regress to the pre-reform era," he said.
