Jakarta, LiterasiHukumCom– The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) ensures that the investigation process of the alleged corruption case of the 2024 Hajj quota within the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) runs without obstacles and intervention from any party. Although the suspect has not been officially announced, the KPK emphasizes that the investigation continues to show positive developments. "There is no (intervention), so the investigation is still progressing well, positively," said KPK Spokesperson, Budi Prasetyo, at the KPK Red and White Building, Jakarta, on Tuesday (23/9). Budi stated that the smooth running of this investigation process is evidenced by the ongoing agenda of summoning and examining witnesses. The KPK is trying to gather information from various parties to build a complete case construction.

Exploring the Additional Quota Distribution Scheme

The KPK's investigation is not only targeting the internal Ministry of Religious Affairs, but also related institutions and associations of Hajj travel agencies. The main focus of the investigation is on the policy-making process (discretion) regarding the distribution of an additional Hajj quota of 20,000 pilgrims. The KPK is investigating how the additional quota was divided into two, namely 10,000 for regular Hajj managed by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the remaining 10,000 managed by private Hajj travel agencies. "Everything is being investigated from upstream to downstream, from the discretion process to the practice of buying and selling quotas in the field," explained Budi.

Examination of Witnesses from Hajj Travel Agencies

As part of the investigation process, the KPK has conducted examinations of a number of leaders of Hajj travel agencies. The latest examination was carried out at the East Java Regional Police on Tuesday (23/9) against five witnesses, namely:
  • Muhammad Rasyid (President Director of PT Saudaraku)
  • RBM Ali Jaelani (Hajj Operational of PT Menara Suci Sejahtera)
  • Siti Roobiah Zalfaa (Director of PT Al Andalus Nusantara Travel)
  • Zainal Abidin (Director of PT Andromeda Atria Wisata)
  • Affif (Director of PT Dzikra Az Zumar Wisata)
The KPK promises to transparently convey the complete construction of this case to the public if the entire investigation process has been completed.
