Jakarta, LiterasiHukumCom – The mystery behind the death of Brigadier Esco Faska Relly, a member of the Sekotong Police Station Intelligence, West Lombok, has begun to find some clarity. The victim's wife, Briptu Rizka Sintiyani, who is also a police officer, has been officially named as a suspect in her husband's murder case.
The determination of this suspect status was announced after investigators conducted a case title on Friday (19/9). "Yes, the results of the case title by investigators named his wife as a suspect," said Head of Public Relations of the NTB Police, Kombes Mohammad Kholid.
Following up on this determination, Briptu Rizka is now being detained at the Detention Center (Rutan) of the Directorate of Prisoner Care and Evidence (Dittahti) of the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Police since Saturday (21/9). This detention step was also confirmed by the legal counsel for Brigadier Esco's family, Lalu Anton Hariawan.
This case began with the discovery of Brigadier Esco's body on August 24 in a garden behind his house. The victim was found in a deplorable condition, with a damaged face and his neck tied with a rope under a tree.
Suspicion of a criminal act was strengthened after the autopsy results of the body were released. The Director of General Criminal Investigation (Dirreskrimum) of the NTB Police, Kombes Syarif Hidayat, at the end of August stated that the autopsy results indicated suspected violence due to blunt force trauma. "There is a suspicion of violence there, abuse that resulted in death," said Syarif.
Before being found dead, Brigadier Esco was recorded to have served at the Sekotong Police Station before being granted permission to visit his sick parents. The determination of Briptu Rizka as a suspect is a new chapter in the disclosure of this case which has attracted public attention.
