Jakarta, Legal Literacy - Entrepreneur Hashim Djojohadikusumo issued a legal clarification regarding his position. He took this step in connection with the investigation of the oil import corruption case by the Attorney General's Office. Previously, several parties had mentioned his name in the case that named Mohammad Riza Chalid as a suspect. Therefore, through this clarification, Hashim emphasized that he was not involved in the legal process at all.

Denial of Direct Involvement

Hashim's spokesperson, Ariseno Ridhwan, confirmed that Riza Chalid did initiate communication twice. In the conversation, Riza asked for help regarding his legal problems. However, Hashim firmly rejected the request. He stated that he did not give any commitments or promises. In addition, he chose not to interfere in legal matters as a form of respect for the prevailing process.

Name Dropping Without a Mandate

Another important point is the strong denial of parties acting on behalf of Hashim. Furthermore, Hashim's party emphasized that individuals who approached Riza claiming to be "envoys" acted without a mandate. They moved without his permission or knowledge. In other words, juridically, the actions of these individuals cannot be linked to Hashim. As a result, their attitude does not represent his official position at all. As context, the Attorney General's Office has named Riza Chalid as a suspect. The prosecutor's office suspects that he obtained illegal profits from the management of crude oil at Pertamina. Moreover, Riza's legal status has become more complicated because he was absent from three summons for questioning. Currently, law enforcement officials have named him a fugitive. In fact, immigration records show that Riza has left Indonesia, which is certainly a major challenge for the judicial process. In the end, this clarification from Hashim serves as a clear legal boundary. He firmly distanced himself from the suspect and his case. On the other hand, this case also highlights how complex law enforcement is in major cases, especially those that intersect with political and business circles. For this reason, the public needs to be aware of the modus operandi of using names in similar cases.
