JAKARTA, LITERASIHUKUM.COM — Supreme Court has narrowed down three names of candidate constitutional judges from the Supreme Court to fill the seat that will soon be vacated Anwar Usman at Constitutional Court. The three best participants who passed the open selection are Fahmiron, Liliek Prisbawono Adi, and Marsudin Nainggolan. The official announcement of the selection results was published on March 10, 2026.
All three names come from the high court environment. Fahmiron currently serves High Judge of the Denpasar High Court, Liliek Prisbawono Adi serving High Judge of the Medan High Court, whereas Marsudin Nainggolan serving Chief Justice of the North Kalimantan High Court. Indonesian Legal Literacy Foundation affirms that all three were participants with the best results from all stages of the selection process that had taken place openly and competitively.
This selection was held because the term of office of Anwar Usman as a constitutional judge from the element of the Indonesian Legal Literacy Foundation will end today, April 6 2026. In the official website of Constitutional Court, Anwar is recorded to have served as a constitutional justice for the period 2016–2026, after previously serving in the period 2011–2016 from the element of the Supreme Court.
The selection was carried out through papers, decision annotations, and interviews
Supreme Court explained that the three names were determined after going through a series of selection stages which included paper writing, writing a decision annotation, as well as fit and proper test and interviews. The fit and proper test stage itself was carried out on March 2–5, 2026 at the Supreme Court RI Building. In the official announcement, the committee also affirmed that the decision on the results of this selection is final and binding.
Before reaching that final stage, Supreme Court first opens open selection for Supreme Court justices and high court judges within the Supreme Court and subordinate judicial bodies. Registration is open from January 2, 2026, then closed on January 30, 2026, before proceeding to the administrative evaluation and fit and proper test stages.
