JAKARTA, LITERASIHUKUM.COM — The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) searched the house of Deputy Chairman of the West Java Regional People's Representative Council Ono Surono in Bandung City on Wednesday (1/4/2026). The search was related to the development of the investigation into the alleged bribery of project pre-financing within the Bekasi Regency Government.
KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo confirmed the search. However, until the initial information was conveyed, the KPK had not explained the reasons for the search in more detail, nor what items were secured, because the process is still ongoing.
The case that led to this search is the case involving Inactive Regent of Bekasi, Ade Kuswara Kunang, his father HM Kunang, and a private party Sarjan. In an official broadcast on December 20, 2025, the KPK stated that Ade and HM Kunang allegedly received money Rp9.5 billion from Sarjan as an “ijon” for project packages within the Bekasi Regency Government since December 2024 until December 2025. The KPK also stated that HM Kunang allegedly received other money from different parties amounting to Rp4.7 billion.
Ono Was Once Questioned, KPK Investigates Alleged Money Flow
Ono Surono's name is not the first to appear in this case. On January 15, 2026, the KPK examined him as a witness in his capacity as Chairman of the West Java PDI Perjuangan DPD. After the examination, Ono admitted that investigators asked about money flow in the case involving Ade Kuswara Kunang.
On the same day, the KPK also openly stated that it was investigating allegations that Ono received a flow of money from Sarjan, a private party who has been named as a suspect in bribery. The KPK has not elaborated on the nominal value or the exact purpose of the grant, and confirmed that the flow of funds is still being investigated in the investigation process.
Thus, the search of Ono's house can be read as a follow-up step by investigators to trace the relationship between the alleged flow of money, the roles of the parties, and the possibility of additional evidence outside of witness statements. To date, there has been no official statement from Ono Surono regarding the search of his house.
Search Marks Expansion of KPK Investigation
The KPK's move to search the house of a provincial DPRD leader and a regional-level party chairman indicates that the Bekasi project bribery case no longer stops at the main perpetrators caught at the end of 2025. The investigation appears to be moving towards tracing the flow of funds and the possible involvement of other parties outside the formal structure of the Bekasi Regency Government.
As the search is still ongoing, the direction of the case's development will be highly determined by what investigators find. If there are documents, electronic evidence, or traces of relevant financial transactions, this case has the potential to enter a broader chapter, both in terms of the network of beneficiaries and the construction of political roles behind the alleged project bribery.
