Jakarta, LiterasiHukumcom– Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi finally spoke up regarding the revocation of the Palace Press identity card (ID) belonging to CNN Indonesia journalist, Diana Valencia. Prasetyo assured that he would seek the best solution to the incident carried out by the Bureau of Press, Media, and Information (BPMI) of the Presidential Secretariat. The Palace, according to Mensesneg, has scheduled a meeting with representatives from CNN Indonesia today, Monday (29/9), to build communication and resolve this issue.
"Yes, we will find the best way out," Prasetyo told reporters, Sunday (28/9).
He added that instructions to communicate have been given to the Press Bureau.
"So tomorrow, we have conveyed to the Press Bureau to try to communicate so that there is the best way out. Let's build communication together," he concluded.

Firm Stance of the Press Council

This incident has drawn a strong response from the Press Council, which has asked the Presidential Palace to immediately restore the coverage access of CNN Indonesia journalists. In its official statement, the Press Council reminded all parties of the importance of upholding press freedom in accordance with the mandate of the legislation.
"The Press Council requests that the coverage access of CNN Indonesia journalists that has been revoked be immediately restored so that the person concerned can return to carrying out their journalistic duties at the palace," according to a quote from a written statement on the official website of the Press Council, Sunday (28/9).
Chairman of the Press Council, Komaruddin Hidayat, separately also emphasized that his party had received an official complaint regarding this case. He urged the Palace Press Bureau to be transparent and provide a logical explanation for its actions.
"The Palace Press Bureau should provide an explanation regarding the revocation of the CNN Indonesia journalist's ID Card so as not to hinder the implementation of journalistic duties within the Palace environment," said Komaruddin.
