Prada Lucky's Case and the Determination of 22 Suspects

This case has attracted widespread attention since the Indonesian Army stated that Prada Lucky died in an incident linked to "coaching" activities. Prada Lucky was known to be the son of Sergeant Major Kristian Namo who served in Kodim 1627 Rote Ndao, and when he died he was said to have only been in service for about two months. The victim's father's name was in the spotlight after a video of him at Wirasakti Hospital, Kupang, circulated on social media, when he questioned the request for an autopsy which the hospital said could not be fulfilled.

Previously, Denpom IX/1 Kupang named 22 Indonesian Army soldiers who served in Yonif TP 834/WM as suspects. Indonesian Army Spokesperson Brigadier General Wahyu Yudhayana stated that the suspects were subject to a number of different articles, including Article 132 of the Military Criminal Code which regulates sanctions for military superiors who give permission or opportunity for violence against fellow TNI members. Wahyu also conveyed the suspicion that the violence took place over a long period of time, not just in one day, and said that the violence was allegedly carried out with bare hands and that the military police had not yet found any specific evidence used to torture the victim. This news also mentioned that there was another soldier who was abused in the activity called "coaching", but was declared to be in good condition.
