JAKARTA, LITERASIHUKUM.COM – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has scheduled an examination of the Regent of Pati, Sudewo, as a witness in the alleged corruption case of railway construction within the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation. The examination took place at the KPK's Merah Putih Building, Jakarta, on Friday (22/8/2025). This examination was conducted to investigate the role of Sudewo, who is suspected of being significant in the procurement of a number of railway projects when he was still a member of Commission V of the Indonesian Parliament. "The examination was carried out at the KPK's Merah Putih Building, South Jakarta," said Spokesperson KPK, Budi Prasetyo, in his statement.

Cross-Project Role While in Parliament

According to the KPK, Sudewo's involvement is not only limited to one project, but several strategic projects in DJKA for the 2021-2022 period. His name first emerged in a trial at the Semarang Corruption Court in November 2023. "The person concerned, who we suspect so far, his role is not only in Solo Balapan to Kadipiro," said Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, on Thursday (14/8/2025). Asep suspects that Sudewo is also related to the double-track railway construction project in other areas, such as West Java, Jakarta, Semarang, to Tegal. In a previous trial, the KPK prosecutor had shown evidence of cash of around Rp3 billion confiscated from Sudewo's house, although Sudewo denied receiving funds related to the project.

Development of DJKA OTT Case

The corruption case at DJKA is a development of the Hand-Catching Operation (OTT) carried out by the KPK on April 11, 2023. To date, the KPK has named 15 individual suspects and two corporate suspects. The investigation continues to develop to uncover alleged engineering in the auction process and the determination of the winners of railway line construction and maintenance projects in various regions in Java, Sumatra and Sulawesi.
