JAKARTA, Legal Literacy - The Directorate of Narcotics Crime of the National Police Criminal Investigation Department uncovered a clandestine laboratory (illegal drug lab) in an apartment in the Sunter area, North Jakarta. In this disclosure, the police arrested a foreign national (WNA) named Saeidi Bayaz.
The Director of Narcotics Crime of the National Police Criminal Investigation Department, Brigadier General Eko Hadi Nugroho, stated that the case was related to the Iran–Indonesia international network. The disclosure was carried out after further investigation from the previous arrest through a control delivery scheme against the suspect Kazemi Kouhi Farzad.
Arrest Chronology: Meeting at a Kebab Shop to Apartment Raid
According to the Criminal Investigation Department, a joint team, which also involved elements of Customs and Excise, took the suspect Kazemi to a meeting location at a kebab shop on Jalan Pramuka, East Jakarta, on Saturday (14/2/2026). Upon arrival at the location, officers secured Saeidi.
From the results of the initial examination and tracing of communication devices, the police obtained Saeidi's residential address. The team then moved to an apartment on Jl. Danau Sunter Selatan, Sunter, North Jakarta, and found strong indications of narcotics production activities in the residential unit.
Evidence: 1.6 Kg of Methamphetamine and Production Equipment
During a search of the apartment, the police found clandestine lab production equipment along with the production results in the form of methamphetamine-type narcotics. The total methamphetamine confiscated was said to reach 1,683 grams gross (4 packages). In addition, officers secured various items allegedly related to the production/packaging process, including cellphones, passports, grinders, portable gas stoves, scales, acetone, pans, 1 kg clip plastic, medical gloves, steam irons, oil paper, and other containers/tools allegedly used in processing.
Handling the Crime Scene and Further Examination
The Criminal Investigation Department coordinated with the Forensic Laboratory Center. The location was cordoned off with police lines, while the suspect was taken for further examination and investigation, including unraveling the role of the perpetrators and the networks involved.
