KUPANG, LITERASIHUKUM.COM — The Chief of the East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police Police Inspector General Rudi Darmoko has suspended the Director of Narcotics Investigation of the East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police Police Grand Commissioner Adriyanto Tedjo Baskoro following allegations of extortion against two suspects with a total value reaching IDR 375 million. In addition to deactivating the director-level official, the NTT Regional Police also detained and questioned six other members suspected of being involved in the case. The position of Chief of the NTT Regional Police is currently held by Inspector General Rudi Darmoko, while the Head of the Professional and Internal Security Division of the NTT Regional Police is held by AKBP Muhammad Andra Wardhana.
The dismissal marks the institution's initial response to a case deemed serious because it involves alleged abuse of authority by law enforcement officials. The NTT Regional Police emphasized that the handling of this case is part of an internal improvement effort to ensure that every member of the National Police works professionally, transparently, and with integrity.
The alleged extortion arose during the handling of the poppers case.
This case began when the Directorate of Drug Investigation of the NTT Regional Police developed a case of alleged criminal acts against health related to the distribution of illegal hard drugs of the poppers type in the range of March to July 2025. In that process, allegations arose that Adriyanto Tedjo Baskoro, along with a number of members, extorted two suspects with initials SF and JH.
The value of the disputed transaction is said to reach IDR 375 million. The alleged practice was carried out through asset negotiation and the use of the suspect's detention period, both in the East Java region and in the NTT Regional Police. The impact not only touches on the ethical side, but also disrupts the continuation of the legal process of the principal case, including because one of the suspects is now a fugitive (DPO) so that the second phase transfer to the prosecutor's office is said to be hampered.
The poppers case itself was previously published by the NTT Regional Police as the uncovering of a cross-regional network. In March 2025, the NTT Regional Police announced the arrest of a number of parties in the case of distribution of poppers supplied from outside the region, and at that time the name Police Senior Superintendent Ardiyanto Tedjo Baskoro appeared as Director of Narcotics Investigation who led the press conference on the disclosure of the case.
The National Police's Professional and Internal Security Division intervened, sanctions could lead to dishonorable discharge
Head of the NTT Regional Police Propam Division AKBP Muhammad Andra Wardhana stated that an initial investigation had been conducted on six personnel allegedly involved, namely AKP HSB, Ipda BB, Aipda OT, Brigpol AI, Briptu LBM, and Bripda JG. A number of pieces of evidence, including those related to the alleged flow of funds, have also been secured to investigate the construction of the case internally.
To maintain the objectivity of the handling, Adriyanto Tedjo Baskoro was deactivated from his position as Director of Drug Investigation of the NTT Regional Police and is now undergoing further examination at the National Police's Professional and Internal Security Division (Divpropam). The NTT Regional Police also stated that they will hold a special case hearing with the National Police's Divpropam to determine the legal and ethical status of the parties allegedly involved.
Normatively, the ethics examination refers to Regulation of the Indonesian National Police Number 7 of 2022 concerning the Code of Ethics for the Profession and the Police Code of Ethics Commission. This regulation serves as a guideline for the behavior of members of the National Police in carrying out their duties, and within this ethics regime, administrative sanctions are available, ranging from demotion to Dishonorable Discharge for serious violations.
Therefore, this case not only concerns the fate of the position of a middle-ranking officer, but also touches on a larger issue, namely public trust in the integrity of handling narcotics and illegal drug cases. If the alleged extortion is proven, this case will be another example of how abuse of authority by officials can undermine law enforcement from within.
The NTT Regional Police affirm their commitment to take firm action against any violations committed by members. The message to be conveyed is clear: internal improvements must not stop at slogans, but must be realized through transparent, accountable, and impartial investigations.
