EAST NUSA TENGGARA, Legal Literacy - The Ngada Police have stopped the investigation into the death of Yohanes Bastian Roja (YBR), a fourth-grade elementary school student who was found dead by hanging in Nenowea Village, Jerebuu District, Ngada Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The police stated that the investigation found no elements of a criminal act in the incident.

Ngada Police Chief AKBP Andrey Valentino said the termination of the investigation was decided because the cause of the victim's death was not considered a criminal act. In the process, the police collected information from 11 witnesses, including the doctor who performed the autopsy and the teachers at the victim's school. The Regional Technical Implementation Unit for the Protection of Women and Children (UPTD-PPA) was also involved to help determine the direction of the investigation.

According to Andrey, although the victim's family was said to have experienced economic limitations and was late in paying school fees, the obligation was eventually paid off after the parents sold the harvest from the garden. He also emphasized that there were no indications of bullying at school, and the autopsy results found no signs of violence on the victim's body.

The School Affirms There Was No Bullying

The Principal of Rj State Elementary School, Maria Ngene, also affirmed that there was no bullying against Yohanes in the school environment. She said the victim was known to be close to his classmates and behaved well while participating in teaching and learning activities.

Regarding information about Yohanes' lack of learning equipment, Maria stated that the school did not yet know the details because monitoring students' personal needs was generally carried out by the homeroom teacher. She also said that during school, Yohanes never conveyed any complaints or showed any prominent obstacles.
