CIMAHI, LITERASIHUKUM.COM — The Cimahi Police have arrested 12 people suspected of being involved in a mob attack with hacking against a motorist in the Jalan Amir Machmud area, on the border of Cimahi City and Bandung City. The perpetrators are said to be part of a motorcycle gang that brutally attacked the victim in the early hours of the morning.
The incident occurred on Sunday (5/4/2026). Surveillance camera footage circulating on social media shows the victim being beaten by a number of people armed with sharp weapons and blunt objects until he fell. After the victim was helpless, the perpetrators fled, taking the victim's cell phone.
The Cimahi Police Chief said that the arrests were made after police conducted an investigation based on witness statements and CCTV footage at the scene. A total of 12 people have been secured and are now undergoing intensive examination. Police are still investigating the motive for the attack, which is suspected to have been carried out randomly against the victim.
The Number of Perpetrators is Suspected to Be Higher
Based on preliminary information, the number of perpetrators involved in the action is estimated to be much higher. From the analysis of witnesses and CCTV footage, the motorcycle gang convoy at the time of the incident was said to consist of dozens of vehicles with a total of more than one hundred members. Police are still investigating to identify other perpetrators who have not been caught.
In addition, the initial investigation also revealed that six of the 12 people secured were on the wanted list (DPO) in similar cases that had previously occurred in the Margaasih area, Bandung Regency. In that case, the authorities had previously secured a number of other perpetrators.
Potential Criminal Charges
Legally, the act of assault that causes the victim to be injured can be subject to criminal provisions as regulated in Article 170 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) concerning violence together in public. If it is proven to be accompanied by the seizure of the victim's belongings, investigators can also apply articles related to theft with violence.
Until now, the victim's condition is reported to have suffered injuries to several parts of the body due to the attack. The police are still continuing the investigation process and developing the possibility of the involvement of other perpetrators in a series of actions by motorcycle gangs that are troubling the community[1]
