JAKARTA, LITERASIHUKUM.COM — Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives is opening up broader participation in the discussion of the revision of the Law on Animal Husbandry and Animal Health by involving academics, professional organizations, and representatives of animal husbandry students. This step was taken so that the draft amendments to the law are not only normatively strong, but also more adaptive to real problems in the field and more favorable to local farmers.

This emerged in a Public Hearing (RDPU) of Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (13/4/2026). A number of parties were present at the forum, including Gadjah Mada University, Indonesian Association of Animal Husbandry Engineers and Scholars, Forum of Leaders of Animal Husbandry Higher Education Institutions of Indonesia, Association of Student Senates of Animal Husbandry Indonesia, as well as elements of The Institution of Engineers Indonesia from the field of animal husbandry engineering. In that forum, various inputs were conveyed, ranging from strengthening the animal health system, increasing national livestock productivity, to protecting farmers amidst global market pressures.
