JAKARTA, Legal Literacy — The fence of the house owned by the 10th and 12th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla (JK), on Jalan Brawijaya, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, was hit by a Jeep Hyundai Santa Fe car on Wednesday (18/2/2026) early in the morning at around 03.30 WIB. The police suspect the accident occurred because the driver was sleepy and lost control.

Head of Public Relations of the South Jakarta Metro Police, AKP Murodih, said that his party received a report of the collision. "That's right, we received information about the collision with the house fence. The driver may have been sleepy and out of control," he said when confirmed.

According to Murodih, the preliminary suspicion leads to fatigue or drowsiness, considering the incident took place at a vulnerable time in the early morning. He emphasized that the police are still investigating the exact cause of the accident. "It seems there are no (other elements), but it is still being investigated. However, from temporary information, it was due to drowsiness, considering the incident occurred at 03.30 WIB," he explained.

The police said that the driver with the initials HP (35) was on his way home to Jagakarsa at the time. As a result of the incident, the fence of JK's house was damaged.

Regarding the settlement of losses, the police received information that mediation would be pursued between the driver and JK to discuss compensation and repair of the damaged fence. "The information is that there are plans for mediation to repair the damage there," Murodih concluded.
