JAKARTA, Legal Literacy - The Iran–Indonesia relationship and the development of the global situation were the focus of the 47th Anniversary Reception of the Victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran at the Hotel Indonesia Kempinski, Jakarta, Tuesday (10/2) evening. The event, attended by a number of national figures and diplomatic representatives, opened with the reading of holy verses from the Al-Qur'an by international qori Ali Nooraldin.
In his remarks, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Indonesia Mohammad Boroujerdi emphasized that the Islamic Revolution of Iran was a manifestation of the people's will to liberate their country from foreign influence and domination. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to commemorate the 47th anniversary of the revolution which, according to him, was born from the aspirations of the people.
Iranian Ambassador Alludes to Pressure, the US, and Criticism of International “Double Standards”
Boroujerdi alluded to the pressure on Iran which, according to him, peaked on June 2025 through a direct attack by Israel which he said was also supported by the United States, along with increasing escalation within Iran. He also criticized the attitude of international institutions which he considered silent and applying double standards, thus triggering a condition he described as a “rule of the jungle” in the global order.
When giving information to the media, Boroujerdi stated that Iran remains open to diplomatic communication channels, but does not trust the US. He emphasized that the principles of sovereignty and national interests of Iran are non-negotiable. The statement was conveyed amidst news of the rolling Iran–US talks in Oman this week, including regarding the nuclear issue. Boroujerdi emphasized that Iran rejects the concept of zero enrichment and emphasized the right to uranium enrichment for peaceful purposes.
Chairman of the DPD: Iran is a Good Friend of Indonesia, People-to-People Contact Needs to be Strengthened
In between the event, Chairman of the DPD RI Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin emphasized the importance of maintaining the diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Iran which have been well established so far. He mentioned that the relationship is not sufficient only at the level of government or parliament, but must also be strengthened through people-to-people contact.
Sultan emphasized that Indonesia adheres to the principle of a free and active foreign policy, not taking sides with any bloc. He also mentioned that the condition in Iran is relatively stable based on direct communication with the Iranian Ambassador.
Boroujerdi added that the Iranian people are preparing to take to the streets on Wednesday (11/2) morning to celebrate the 47th anniversary of the victory of the revolution, and he claimed that the pro-government action will take place peacefully even though the situation is considered full of pressure.
