JAKARTA, Legal Literacy — The legal counsel for actor Adly Fairuz has denied allegations that their client claimed to be a police general in a civil lawsuit concerning alleged fraud in the handling of prospective members of the Police Academy (Akpol). The denial was issued following a breach of contract lawsuit amounting to nearly IDR 5 billion filed with the South Jakarta District Court.
Adly's legal counsel, Aga Khan, asserted that the information circulating in the public is not in accordance with the facts, including the issue that Adly claimed to be a Police General with the name General Ahmad.
"The accusation that Adly claimed to be a Police General is untrue and greatly harms our client," Aga said when met in South Jakarta recently.
According to Aga, the party providing the money should have known Adly's identity from the beginning. However, the transaction still took place and now places his client as the party to be entirely blamed.
Aga also denied the assumption that Adly is not responsible for the matter. He mentioned that his client has attempted to return the money, although only partially.
"It is not true that our client is running away from responsibility. Some of the money has been returned," he said.
Aga added that Adly is being cooperative and ready to follow the entire legal process that is underway. He assessed that the developing news tends to corner his client as if he were the party who engineered the entire matter.
Adly's other legal counsel, Andi Gultom, also denied the existence of a breach of contract as argued in the lawsuit. He questioned the plaintiff's legal standing as the rightful owner of the disputed money.
"The plaintiff's legal standing towards the object of the lawsuit is non-existent. The original owner of the money mentioned in this case does not appear in the lawsuit," Andi said.
This case began in early 2023 when Abdul Hadi, through an intermediary Agung Wahyono, was introduced to Adly Fairuz, who was claimed to be able to help pass his son as a prospective Akpol cadet. In the process, the victim was said to have deposited a total of IDR 3.65 billion.
However, after failing twice in the 2023 and 2024 Akpol selections, Adly's party signed a notarial deed in 2025 containing a commitment to return the funds. Of the total funds, only IDR 500 million has been returned, while the remainder has not been paid.
On that basis, a civil lawsuit for breach of contract amounting to nearly IDR 5 billion was registered with the South Jakarta District Court in January 2026. In addition to the civil lawsuit, this case was also reported criminally to the East Jakarta Metro Police on suspicion of fraud and embezzlement.
