Jakarta, LiterasiHukumCom – The Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Kapolri), General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, stated that he would further investigate the detention case of a number of activists, including Delpedro Marhaen, who were accused of provocation during a demonstration. This statement was made in response to an official letter he received from the Gerakan Nurani Bangsa (GNB), a group consisting of national figures.
On Friday, September 26, 2025, at the National Police Headquarters, General Sigit Prabowo emphasized that his party respects the aspirations conveyed by the GNB. "Give us the opportunity to explore the entire series of events that occurred, so that we can then decide whether this process can be followed up with what was proposed," he told the media.
Previously, on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, a number of prominent figures such as Sinta Nuriyah Wahid, Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, and Erry Riyana Hardjapamekas visited the Polda Metro Jaya to express their concerns. On behalf of the GNB, they stated their readiness to be guarantors for the suspension of detention for the six suspects.
Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, former Minister of Religion, explained that the figures hoped that the police could suspend the detention, even release the suspects. According to him, the activists were only voicing their aspirations peacefully and were not part of the rioters. "This is a form of concern as well as concern over the detention of activists due to the demonstration incident," said Lukman.
This case originated from the arrest of six people in early September related to demonstrations that took place on August 25 and 28, 2025. The six—Delpedro Marhaen, Syahdan Husein, Khariq Anhar, Muzaffar Salim, Figha Lesmana, and one with the initials RAP—were charged with multiple articles, including Article 160 of the Criminal Code concerning incitement, the ITE Law, and the Child Protection Law.
