Jakarta, LiterasiHukumCom – Internal political dynamics within the United Development Party (PPP) are heating up after the Chairman of the Party's Advisory Council, Muhammad Romahurmuziy (Rommy), firmly denied Muhammad Mardiono's claim that he was elected by acclamation as the General Chairman of PPP for the 2025-2030 period. According to Rommy, the claim circulating on Saturday night (27/9) was untrue because the 10th PPP Congress was still ongoing until late at night and had not yet reached the stage of determining the general chairman.
"It is not true that Mardiono was elected, let alone by acclamation," Rommy said in his official statement on Sunday (28/9).
Rommy highlighted that the news regarding Mardiono's election by acclamation appeared around 21.22 WIB, while the Congress was still ongoing until 22.30 WIB. He called the claim an attempt to divide the party.
"The news around 21.22 WIB stating that Mardiono was elected by acclamation is false, a unilateral claim, irresponsible, and an attempt to divide the United Development Party," he asserted.
Furthermore, Rommy revealed that the atmosphere within the Congress actually showed rejection of Mardiono's leadership. He mentioned shouts for Mardiono to step down and calls for change within the PPP. This, according to him, makes the claim of acclamation unreasonable.
"Thus, it is not logical that the overwhelming rejection of Mardiono's leadership would end with Mardiono being elected by acclamation," he said.

Mardiono's Version

Previously, on Saturday night, the Acting (Plt.) General Chairman of PPP, Muhammad Mardiono, stated that he had been elected by acclamation. He claimed that the decision was taken as an emergency measure to save the course of the Congress. Mardiono also mentioned that around 80 percent of the total Congress participants approved the quick step by electing the general chairman by acclamation.
