DENPASAR, LITERASIHUKUM.COM - The Bali Regional Police have uncovered alleged criminal acts of misuse of subsidized fuel oil (BBM) and LPG, potentially causing state losses of up to IDR 1 billion. In this case, the Bali Regional Police have named eight suspects. [1]
The disclosure of the case was announced by the Bali Police Chief Inspector General of Police Daniel Adityajaya at a press conference at the Bali Regional Police Headquarters, Denpasar, Monday, June 29, 2026. This case relates to the misuse of the distribution of subsidized goods which are intended for specific community groups.
Subsidies Must Be Targeted
Subsidized fuel oil and LPG are monitored commodities because they receive state financial support in their selling prices. Distribution misuse can result in state losses while reducing access for the community entitled to receive subsidy benefits.
The designation of eight suspects indicates that investigators have found alleged roles of certain parties in this case. Nevertheless, the proof of criminal elements must still be tested according to the stages of criminal procedure law.
Energy Distribution Supervision
This case highlights the importance of oversight in the subsidized energy distribution chain, from channeling, storage, to utilization by end-users. Law enforcement serves as an instrument to ensure subsidies are not diverted for purposes that violate regulations.
The Bali Regional Police have not yet detailed the entire case construction in this publication. Subsequent developments will determine the articles charged, evidence, and the relationship between the suspects and the alleged state losses.
