JAKARTA, Legal Literacy — New developments have occurred in the case involving Eggi Sudjana and Damai Hari Lubis regarding the issue of the “fake diploma” of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi). The Jakarta Metropolitan Police processed the restorative justice (RJ) request submitted by the two suspects, and then issued a Letter of Order to Terminate the Investigation (SP3) after assessing that the RJ requirements were met. Meanwhile, the investigation into other suspects in the same case is said to be continuing.

Jokowi previously confirmed that there was a meeting with Eggi and Damai at his residence in Solo, Central Java. He described the meeting as a friendly gathering that also discussed opportunities for settlement through RJ. However, Jokowi emphasized that RJ is the authority of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police investigators, not a decision by parties outside the investigation process.

The RJ requests from Eggi and Damai were submitted through legal counsel and officially received by the Jakarta Metropolitan Police on January 14, 2026. The police stated that the request was followed up in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations.

In the following development, the Jakarta Metropolitan Police issued an SP3 for Eggi Sudjana and Damai Hari Lubis. The termination of this investigation is related to allegations of criminal acts of defamation, defamation, and incitement that intersect with allegations of a “fake diploma” against Jokowi. The SP3 was issued after a special case was held and it was declared that the requirements for settlement through RJ had been met.

However, the police said that the legal process against other suspects in the case was not stopped. Investigators are still continuing the investigation series, including examining witnesses, experts, and completing case files for legal certainty. The names mentioned are still undergoing the process, including Roy Suryo, Rismon Sianipar, and dr. Tifa.
